I was on the varsity team 66 and 67....take me back❗️❗️❗️
I was in Troop 5 in the 1960's .
I graduated in 1967. I worked at the W SHOP. This was my freshman year. I got paid 50 cents an hour peeling potatoes for French frys. My Sophmore year started behind the counter for $1.00 per hour. Got to love those Cherry Cokes. Was a great job for a teenager. Would go back to these times...in a heartbeat 👍👍👍
I was in the class of 1969. Didnt start East till Sept 1967
My dad was class of 1966, his brother 1967, his wife 1968. My dad passed in 2013. The Jewel store, became Harmony Haven, and is now a doll store.
Before the groomers destroyed public education.
what's up with the 80s music?
Class of ‘05 right here watching in2022!!!!!❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤
I’m going to go here this year for my junior year and I’m pretty scared
Great to look back! Some faces look so familiar,,,,
I wonder how many people in these clips are still alive. We've lost so many from the Class of '65. Thank you for posting this, John. My years at WTHS were filled with fun and laughter.
Probably lost some from the Vietnam War.☹️☹️☹️
Back when life was simple
The beach was prettier
Me watching this in 2020 👁👄👁.
My mother first taught there 1964 after she married to my father.
Back then when Waukegan wasn’t ghetto lol
Given the missing sideplates off the Silverliners, this was filmed very close to the end, probably in the winter of 1962-63.
Ok boomer
Two kids just stabbed each other, yesterday, at this school.
Now this was a treat. My grandmother worked in the Kenosha and Milwaukee diners. Rode the train both ways to work/home.
The first teacher in the video is Ms. Oglesby, the Latin Teacher. Demetri Selevredes is one of the students receiving a paper from her.
Everybody grey on and on canes now
Searching for a 1966 graduate of Wentworth Military Academy who might have lost a class ring in Farnam, NE.
Notice there really was a time when students respected their teachers, other classmates and themselves. They are dressed respectfully as in, girls in dresses and boys in real shirts tucked in. How did the "really smart" people of academia totally miss the nuance of minors do not run things. Minors are to be guided, they are not equal partners. The further education establishment types try to make everyone feel inclusive, the further into the abyss public education goes. Life in general offers no guarantees of fairness or inclusiveness. Each of us everyday or as events press upon us, we must prove our worth in the exchange of our time and talents for coin of the realm. They knew that in 1964.
Strict Dress code. one had to dress in those days, Girls had to wear skirts or dresses, boys, dress pants. No blue jeans, shorts or tennis shoes.
Is this brookside or Washington
The usual dress code back then is something we use to look good today. Their casual is literally our fashion. Plus they didnt have alot of fast foods etc probably thats y theyr all fit nd tightly shaped
Ms. Dobner
This was the days when the Waukegan Township High School was one of the top ranking educational institutions in the midwest. Many of the kids you see in this film went on to change the world! We have to thank John Schleffendorf (who was in the camera club at the time) for making this film on the last day of school -- 1964. John was the skinniest science nerd in our class. Soon afterward he got into bodybuilding and later became a leader in the fitness industry. As a researcher, engineer, and inventor he became the worlds top designer of high tech exercise equipment, He was one of the class of '64 who went on to make the world a better place. He was nominated for the Nobel Prize in engineering in 2014.
Never under estimate someone. As far as I see. "Nerds run and rule the world at the end of the day." Unmatched intelligence and brain power from super highly intelligent braniac people. #That's their gift!
My old high school class of 74. The W shop. Ate lunch there a lot. Cool video. It was an open campus, come and go as you please. As long as you were near your next class when the bell rang. I believe they stopped that for the 1975 year.
that was a nice idea why did they?
I'm not sure. I believe that it may have lead to too much truancy.
David B. Now our entrances are alarmed
I was class of 1978 west campus.
I know this is years ago but did they do 2 year highschools? I go 2 years at brookside and 2 years at Washington.
Was there at the start of it all arrested for it at 16-Long live bridge rats and plaid land !
Nothing like cruisin Genesee St. on a Friday and Saturday night, and bleach burn outs on the bridge.
mark haney not me
What a difference non processed food and daily physical education makes! These students were in so much better shape than the teens of the year 2015! Makes a person think!
Teri Fitzpatrick I don't know if they have Psychical Ed. every school day anymore. They did in the 80s when I went to High School.
I wonder how many of these boys died in vietnam?
This my High School graduation year from Wentworth. I do recognize some faces! Thanks for the post!
Big difference between that generation and 2015 generation lmfao
Flashback to today and there's a ton of people just cursing and swearing at each other and I bet you 80% of the people will flip off the camera. Such a shame. :/
Even though I went to W.M.A. in 77 I remember the days like that. AWSOME clip
